Exercise 3: Bandwidth Brokers

Bandwidth brokers are mechanisms used to control and convey resource
information within DiffServ network. Lot of material has been
published about it but still a lot needs to be done before it could be
applied to the network.

Sketch out following cases. Explain assumptions and restrictions of
different cases and how these could be solved.

1) Think case when you are providing any to any AF based service. How
   BBs could be used to control the quality which is delivered to the
   customers. What mechanisms are required to the routers and how they
   could be implemented. Let's assume three classes (Gold, Silver and
   Bronze).

2) Expand first case to inter-ISP service. How would you deliver
   information between domains. What are the restrictions.

3) Sketch distributed version of BB's. In this case every router would
   be BB on some level. How they would dissiminate information
   required to make provisioning decissions.
